OPCAR-EV – Smart Management of Electric Bus Fleets in Public Transit

OPCAR is an advanced solution for comprehensive management of the charging process and real-time scheduling of electric bus operations. The system was developed in collaboration between Symcotech and Dan Public Transportation, addressing the complex challenges of electric public transit—such as charging coordination, energy management, fleet monitoring, and adaptation to changing field conditions.

The system includes:

• Smart charging scheduling based on advanced algorithms

• Efficient energy management and handling of grid infrastructure limitations

• Real-time monitoring of depot operations and bus performance

• High operational reliability while maintaining battery health and uninterrupted service

• Integration of renewable energy sources to promote green public transportation

So far, OPCAR manages over 750 electric vehicles, supplies 22 GWh of energy, and operates a power network with a total capacity of 36.5 MVA.
This project sets a new standard for electric fleet management in smart cities.
